Chet Zar »Turning Away«

Born on November 12th, 1967, in the harbor town of San Pedro, CA, Chet Zar's interest in art began at an early age. His mother was always very supportive and never put any limits on his creativity. His entire childhood was spent drawing, sculpting and painting.

Zar's interest in the darker side of art began in the earliest stages of his life. An emotionally unstable father and subsequent volatile family life fostered within himself a deep connection to horror movies. He could relate to the feelings of fear, anxiety and isolation that they conveyed. These are themes which had permeated most of his childhood drawings and paintings and are reflected in his work to this day

The combined interest in horror films and art eventually culminated into a career as a special effects make up artist, designer and sculptor for the motion picture industry, designing and creating creatures and make up effects for such films as, "The Ring", "Hellboy", "Planet of the Apes" and the critically acclaimed music videos for the art metal band, Tool. For the last 7 years Zar has also embraced the digital side of special effects as well, utilizing the computer to translate his dark vision with 3D animation for Tool's live shows and subsequently releasing many of them on his own DVD of dark 3D animation, "Disturb the Normal".

But the many years spent dealing with all of the politics and artistic compromises of the film industry left Zar feeling creatively stagnant. At the beginning of 2000 (at the suggestion of horror author Clive Barker), he decided to go back to his roots and focus on his own original works and try his hand at fine art, specifically painting in oils. The result has been a renewed sense of purpose, artistic freedom and a clarity of vision that is evident in his darkly surreal (and often darkly humorous), paintings.

His artistic influences include painter James Zar (stepfather and artistic mentor), Beksinski, H.R. Giger, Frank Frazetta, M.C. Escher, Bosch, Mark Ryden and Norman Rockwell just to name a few.

"Chet's art is beautiful & scary. His style has a modern twist crashing into a classical approach. I think Chet is a master painter on his way to making a great mark in our little world. Wanna do something smart with your money? Invest in a Chet Zar painting." - Adam Jones (TOOL)

Tim Roosen

Tim Roosen »Lucretia«

Tim Roosen was born in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, in 1972.

Blacksmith and metalsculptor. After finishing the ‘Strange Fruit' series, a collection of plant-like wrought iron metalsculptures, and building the largest artistic scale model of our solar system in the world - which consists of 11 monumental sculptures in 9 Belgian cities - he returns to what he likes doing most: figurative art.

At Strychnin Gallery, he presents his ‘Angels & Demons', life-size heroic warrior women, made of a variety and combination of metals, such as mild steel, burnt copper, stainless steel, cast bronze and aluminium. Inspired by an overdose of Sci-Fi movies in his youth, tons of fantasy literature and more weird dreams than he cares for, these ‘metal maidens' have a definate dark, warrior-like feel, without forfeiting their femininity. Metal, a cold and lifeless material, is cut, hammered, shaped and welded into organic, living creatures of dreams and nightmares.

"Self-taugh artist, MAG and TIG welder, dreamer and illigitimate son of Hephaestos. Let Tim Roosen take you into his strange world of angels, warriors, demons and androids."

Guillermo Rigattieri »Sky Machine«

Guillermo Rigattieri was born on August 18, 1976 in San Rafael, Mendoza (Argentina). When he was 18 years old he moved into the city of Mendoza to study at the Faculty of Arts. He received his degree after 4 years.
Later he decided to seek a personal style working in his own studio. His first forays into sculptural language were made using plastic materials such as clay and latex. Once Rigattieri felt more confident with the language of shapes, he discovered welded and wrought metal. This discovery provided him the immediacy of such materials, making the most of its expressiveness. His works cover different themes ranging from the dramatic to the fantastic as well as playful subjects. Many of his sculptures are already part of private collections in countries all over the world, such as Spain, Italy, Chile, United States of America, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, Brazil, Africa, Canada, France, England, Ireland and Argentina.
Guillermo Rigattieri lives and works in Argentina.
Rigattieri has received many prizes and mentions, among them 1° premio Salón Vendimia 2oo4 Mendoza.

Jason Limon

Jason Limon »Life Spring«

Jason Limon was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1973. He first showed his artistic expression at a fairly young age doodling characters and sceneries inspired by his bustling neighborhood and surroundings. He studied fine arts and graphic design at the Visual Arts & Technology Center at San Antonio College and entered the field of commercial graphic design in 1995 acquiring comprehensive knowledge of type, color and composition. Following twelve years of commitment to producing award winning logos and designs he then turned his focus and concentration to where his heart truly began: developing artwork by hand and brush, no longer by the clicks of a mouse. He is currently creating gallery work and commercial illustrations, some of which can be seen in Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, American Illustration, Print Regional Design and Graphics.
